An event that laid out the current technical direction: many small, accumulating use cases pointing toward the need for a 6G upgrade rather than a single mythical killer use case.

The programme covered XR performance constraints, AI-driven RAN concepts, neural receivers under active research, and ongoing work on integrated sensing and communications, all of which intersect with our existing research at CHEDDAR. There was explicit emphasis on evaluating AI inside the radio stack, not as an external add-on, as the only enabler of <1ms latency.

CHEDDAR’s work on distributed intelligence and trustworthy AI aligns with these trajectories, which collectively indicate that industry and academia are moving toward early testing of AI-native 6G architectures rather than incremental extensions of 5G.
